Each day this week, we're keeping the kids busy with activities based on Disney movies.
Released back in 1959, Darby O'Gill and the Little People tells about a kind and older gentleman who loves to tell stories about his interactions with the leprechaun king, Brian Connors. With Banshees, a pooka (Celtic spirit horse), a leprechaun lair, and even (a very young) Sean Connery, this movie is full of Irish legends. We think it's the perfect movie to watch this St. Patrick's Day.
What better activity for a movie about leprechauns on St. Patricks Day than creating our own leprechaun traps. I left this really open-ended, so the kids could use any supplies the found to trap themselves a leprechaun (and be granted 3 wishes). This is what they came up with.
The boy kept it simple and decided to lure his leprechaun in with a pot of gold.
The girl is an aspiring engineer. It was very important to her that she build a more "humane" trap.
She made sure to add a battery operated tea lite candle so her leprechaun could see the jewels.
We hope your St. Patrick's Day is a magical one!
